Join Professor David Fox in this live, interactive tutorial in which he walk you through the basics of fitting SSDs in R. Starting with the R package fitdistrplus, you will be shown how to extract AIC values and other information from a fitted SSD and use those to compute the model weights for each component SSD. Using R, you will be shown how to compute a model-averaged HCx value b y first writing your own code, and then using the ssdtools package. Topics to be covered include:

  • dealing with bimodality in SSDs
  • using fitdistrplus to fit SSDs
  • constructing a model-averaged SSD in R ‘by hand’
  • how to fit a mixture distribution (eg: 2 lognormal distributions or a lognormal and a logLogistic distribution) to bimodal data in R
  • using the ssdtools package
  • using shiny(ssdtools)
